Mother's Day Gifts 2018. Unique ideas for that special woman in your life.
Girolle Cheese Cutter: This unique wooden-and-steel tool, perfect for moms who love their wine-and-cheese nights, will give any party a turn for the better. Slice the rind off of the top of the cheese wheel (not included, but this variety works well), push the wheel onto the steel rod, and crank the scraping knife in a circle, shaving the cheese into bite-sized, flower-like curls.
“All Seasons” Goat Milk Soap Collection: Four chemical-free, handmade, and hydrating goat’s milk soaps—one for each season—are wrapped in pretty kraft paper and colorful floral designs and encased in a handcrafted red-cedar box. The fragrant bars will help mom unwind from winter to spring, but the set is so gorgeous she may never want to use it.
Terry Beach Reader: Beach season is just around the corner. Get Mom ready for those lazy sun-and-water days with this colorful terry-cloth tablet and e-reader case. Thanks to a water-repellent polyester lining and zip enclosure—not to mention a terry handle for easy toting—she can make a splash without damaging her tech.

Most Popular Mother’s Day Gifts in Every State
People across the U.S. will celebrate their moms this Sunday with flowers, cards or breakfast in bed—and, at least in Alaska, they may add some heartfelt words of poetry too.
“Love poem” was the most uniquely searched Mother’s Day gift in Alaska in recent years, according to a Google analysis of search data by state from 2004 to 2018.
Love was a theme in many of the top-searched gift ideas, including a “forever heart necklace” in Ohio—but food was even bigger, with popular presents including “chocolate strawberries” in Washington, D.C., “chocolate gift baskets” in Mississippi and “edible fruit arrangements” in Oregon. Some states went for the opposite tack, with Mother’s Day shoppers in New Jersey searching for “fitness trackers” and those in North Dakota searching for “healthy cookbooks.”
And then there were some more unusual ones: Connecticut’s top item was a “garden animal statue,” while Pennsylvania’s was “sheepskin pillow” and Wyoming’s was “tea infuser.”

Facebook gift for Mothers day 2018
It's the Thursday before 2018 Mother's Day, which makes it the last day you can comfortably order flowers for your mom without freaking out that they won't arrive in time. But if you forget, or are simply too cheap to spring for an Edible Arrangement, Facebook is offering a digital flower in some markets. The flower was spotted by Twitter user Sreedev Sharma. "To celebrate Mother's Day, we are testing the ability for people in a few markets to leave a flower reaction," the company said in a statement. This marks the first time the company has offered a temporary reaction, and comes three months after it expanded the like button to include a range of other responses.
Facebook did not specify the markets in which the flower will be available. After Mother's Day, you won't be able to leave the flower as a reaction, but it will still appear underneath any posts where it has been added. If Facebook is pleased with the results, I can imagine temporary reactions becoming the company's answer to Google Doodles — a little bit of whimsy that livens up the product at a relatively low cost. It's a small thing, but a nice touch.

Mother's Day gift ideas that are actually cool
Every year in mid-spring, there comes a morning when you wake up in a cold sweat with one thought on your mind.
When is Mother's Day this year?! Heaven forbid, did I miss it?!!!
No, you haven't missed it. Mother's Day falls on different dates around the world, but for the United States, Mother's Day is always the second Sunday in May. Go ahead and mark that in your calendar for next year so you don't have to have another panic attack.
Thankfully, there is still time to put together a thoughtful offering for the mom in your life. We're not saying any mom wouldn't appreciate some pancakes and a nice card, but if you really want to win Mother's Day, all it takes is a little extra thought and a dash of personalization.
Impress a beauty-minded mom by flexing your knowledge of skincare trends. Korean beauty products are big right now, so pick up a few sheet masks (the ones that make the wearer look like a spooky ghost). Bath bombs — fizzy tablets packed with color, scent and skin-friendly ingredients -- are also supertrendy. They range in price from about $3 to $12 a pop, so you can get a bunch or invest in a few posh options.
Now that adult coloring books are hot, you can find them practically ANYWHERE. They're even in the checkout line at the grocery store! Complete the gift with a nice set of colored pencils and some peace and quiet for once.
The best gift some moms can get on Mother's Day is a good cry. Elevate your childhood finger paint art and commission a local artist to draw a favorite photograph or create a personalized card (it's cheaper and faster than it sounds). A locket or piece of jewelry with a meaningful quote on it would also be a hit, or take matters into your own hands and put together a scrapbook of a favorite family trip. Boom: Instant tears.
Bonus to this idea: It costs basically nothing. Gather the kids up, dress them in the ugliest sweaters you can find, and strike a pose for a legendarily awkward family photo. If you're the kid, find a weird old baby picture and recreate it, #TBT style. Her Facebook friends will thank you.
Listen, is it the most romantic idea? No. But if mom has been driving around with a dinged up side mirror, or the garage light hasn't worked since 2006, fix the dang thing! You can still be sentimental: If she's ever mourned over a lost bracelet or a broken mug, try to find a close replacement.
If your favorite mom likes to cook (even after surviving untold struggles over family meal options), get her something Food Network-level fancy that she'll enjoy experimenting with. Culinary lavender, truffle oils, infused vinegar and goods imported from her favorite travel destination are all great options.

2018 Mother's Day
2018 Mother's Day is a modern celebration honoring one's own mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Father's Day and Siblings Day.
The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration (originally a celebration of the mother church, not motherhood).Despite this, in some countries, Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.

Mother's Day brunches
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and for me, that means spending an entire weekend with my mom in Des Moines, heading to the opening of the Downtown Farmers’ Market on May 7 and going to brunch on May 8. While we already have our reservations in, you may still need to make yours. Here, a look at six brunches just for Mother’s Day, along with some of the newer brunches that have opened recently.
1. Le Jardin
2815 Beaver Ave.; 515-255-5787; lejardindsm.com
This French bistro in Beaverdale is well-known for its Sunday brunches, and for Mother’s Day, that means special seating times between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., between 10:20 a.m. and 10:50 a.m., from 11:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., and from 1:10 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Each seating allows for an hour and 20 minutes to dine. Each dish comes with the choice of two sides and free honey cornbread muffins and coffee for all guests. Bonus: Now Le Jardin is open for brunch on Saturdays, too, with a scaled-down menu of omelets and crepes.
2.Blank Park Zoo
7401 SW Ninth St.; 515-287-0848; blankparkzoo.com

Seatings are at 9:45, 10, 10:15 and 11:45 a.m., noon, and 12:15, 1:45, 2 and 2:15 p.m

Also nab bottomless mimosas, screwdrivers or bloody Marys for $18.
4. Strudl Haus
